The Tate Cancer Center
The Tate Cancer Center will be a freestanding, four-story structure, located on the North Arundel Hospital campus. The 60,000-square-foot building will contain all of the services, programs, and facilities required by most cancer patients in Anne Arundel County. In the past, 70 percent of such patients had to travel to Baltimore and Washington for treatments and technologies they will now find here.
The state-of-the-art facility will include:
- Comprehensive cancer screening. This will bring the full range of present medical knowledge to bear in detecting cancers at the earliest possible stage.
- Radiation oncology services. Fully equipped services will allow specialists to utilize the most up-to-date technologies, including computerized treatment planning and simulation.
- Clinical oncology pharmacy services. These will be provided in special rooms, including infusion areas for chemotherapy and transfusions.
- Offices for physicians and specialists. These will include offices for physicians (medical, radiation, and surgical oncology) as well as flexible office space for rotating cancer sub-specialists. There will also be areas for multi-disciplinary clinics.
- Comprehensive support services. Providing support for patients and families is viewed as crucial. Services will include social work, nutritional counseling, rehabilitation, home care and hospice, and image recovery.
- Counseling for high-risk patients. There will be cancer risk assessment and genetic counseling for patients at high risk.
- Cancer resource library. A library professional will be available to provide information on any cancer-related topic to patients, families, and members of the community.
- Conference rooms. Meeting space will be adequate to the needs of groups involved in support programs, community education, and interdisciplinary consultation.
The Tate Cancer Center will be grounded in the quality, progressive health care that Anne Arundel County residents have come to associate with North Arundel Hospital.
The Center will bring together the finest array of oncologists and surgeons, technologies and treatments, equipment and facilities ever available in the county. With a strong emphasis on care and compassion, the Center will offer a new measure of hope for cancer patients and their families.
